About the Artist
Artists Bio:
Scott Northrop is an emerging abstract artist who believes paint should have a mind of its own. With a background in sculpture and photography, he approaches each canvas like an experiment in motion — where control and chaos negotiate their boundaries. His work has been featured in group exhibitions highlighting both his sculptural and photographic pieces, and Flow-motion marks his first solo show. Northrop’s paintings capture the rhythm of movement, the humor in unpredictability, and the beauty of letting color take the lead.
Artists Statement:
“Flow-motion is my exploration of movement — and my ongoing debate with gravity. My process is a mix of precision and surrender: I pour, tilt, and guide paint until it decides where to land. Every piece begins as an act of control and ends as an act of trust.
I’m drawn to that tension — the space where chaos looks intentional and balance feels accidental. Flow-motion is about motion caught mid-sentence, energy that refuses to sit still. These works remind me (and maybe you) that painting—like life—works best when you stop forcing it and just let it flow.” -Scott Northrop
